  • Duty tax Duty rates in Puerto Rico can be ad valorem (as a percentage of value) or specific (dollars/cents per unit). Duty rates vary from 0% to 37.5% with the average duty rate being 5.63%.
  • Sales Tax Puerto Rico charged at a standard rate of 12.5% (it has a Federal component of 11.5% and a Municipal component of 1%). IVU calculated on the sum of the CIF value (i.e. product value plus shipping and insurance cost) and any duty payable. IVU zero-rated on some products like foodstuffs and medicine.
